The background on my web site is made of 1s and 0s because 1s and 0s are the only numbers that computers understand. To computers 1s and 0s mean that electricity is on or off. 1s and 0s are called binary digits or "bits". From just 1s and 0s computers can make unlimited numbers, letters, and other symbols that humans need to communicate.
